Dakota Granite is centrally located in the northern tier of the United States. We can ship your blocks via three methods: Flatbed Truck, Rail, Container.
- Flatbed Truck: Truck capacities are generally 45,000 lbs. Single block shipments can be up to 200 F3 maximum. The capacity for two block loads is approximately 185 F3. Our prices include loading via this method.
- Rail: Gondola capacity is about 200,000 lbs which converts to 850 -875 F3 or 24 M3. The gondolas are railed to east coast ports, Norfolk, VA. recently. Containers are stuffed at the port and can be filled to about 55,000 lbs or 7 M3. Allow 3 to 4 weeks transit time to port. Ocean transit times will depend upon shipping schedules. Generally, transit times will be 8 to 12 weeks. Our prices include loading via this method.
- Container: Containers are stuffed at the quarry and transported via truck to the container yard in St. Paul, MN where they are loaded on board a train for shipment to the coast and finally ocean shipment. When loaded at the quarry, because of road load limits, the maximum weight allowed is 43, 500 lbs or 200 F3 / 5.7 M3.
Generally transit times for containers loaded at our quarry are approximately 6 - 8 weeks to your port. There is an additional stuffing and cribbing charge for containers we load at the quarry.
